Actress Alice Ko made her first public appearance since her husband, Energy member Kunda Hsieh, was taken into custody in Taiwan’s crackdown on celebrity draft-evasion cases. Alice Ko, who married Hsieh in 2017, was promoting her new project Had I Not Seen the Sun when reporters took the chance to ask about her husband’s legal troubles.

When asked, “How is your mood recently?”, a question clearly aimed at the arrest, she responded that what he is experiencing is “something he is facing and reflecting on”, adding, “I’m just accompanying him.” The 40-year-old actress attempted to steer the conversation back to her film, even bringing up her on-screen kissing scene; however, the press continued to ask whether she had known in advance about Hsieh’s military evasion issues. Alice Ko replied candidly, “Of course I didn’t know.”

Previously, Taiwanese law-enforcement officers arrived at the couple’s home to arrest the 43-year-old singer-actor. At the time, he was abroad in Vancouver filming for a variety show while his wife was alone at home when authorities showed up. Upon learning about the situation, Kunda Hsieh immediately arranged to fly back to Taiwan to face investigation and he has since been released on bail. He also issued a public apology, stating that he would fully cooperate.
